Some Early Predictions of UEFA Champions League Tables

Some Early Predictions of UEFA Champions League Tables

As the Champions League matches draw ever so close, the football fans around the world rejoice, as the best football has to offer will kick off against one another tomorrow.

While the weekly matches at the English Premier League and La Liga are entertaining, nothing beats the high stake matches of UCL.

Hence, before they kick off tomorrow night, we decided to do some early predictions on how each table will shape up.

Table A

Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Club Brugge, AS Monaco

Atletico and Dortmund should top this table respectively, with Monaco possibly giving either team (possibly Dortmund) a scare if they are not careful.

The only definite exciting match should come from the top 2 teams’ head to head, with Atletico’s talent throughout their lineup proving to be the difference maker.

Prediction: Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund qualify.

Table B

Barcelona, Inter Milan, PSV Eindhoven, Tottenham Spurs

One of the more interesting tables, with Barcelona clearly the superior teams and the favourites to top the table.

The second spot should come down to the winner of Spurs - Inter Milan, with the offensive line of Kane and Eriksen pulling the Spurs ahead.

Prediction: Barcelona and Tottenham Spurs qualify.

Table C

Red Star Belgrade, Liverpool, Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain

Possibly the toughest table in this Champions League draw, Liverpool, Napoli and PSG should fight it out to qualify for the next round.

The only guarantee would be Red Star Belgrade’s at the bottom of the table, with the top 2 spots up for grabs between the 3 quality teams.

PSG’s addition of Mbappe should push their front line into another stratosphere while Liverpool’s various additions at the back have solidified and improved upon their UCL’s Finalist campaign last year.

Napoli will definitely put on a fight, but the talented frontline and backline from both teams should prove too much for them.

PSG’s line-up is certainly top-class, but Liverpool’s new additions take them to the next level. If their defence continues at the furious rate as in the EPL, they should stand more than a chance against PSG.

Prediction: Liverpool and PSG qualify.

Table D

Galatasaray S.K., Lokomotiv Moscow, Porto, Schalke 04

The snooze table for the UCL this year.

While there are hardly any big name teams, Porto and Schalke should qualify in this table against the likes of Galatasaray and Lokomotiv Moscow. Porto should have an edge over Schalke 04 in the end with a more superior frontline.

Prediction: Porto and Schalke 04 qualify.

Table E

AEK Athens, Ajax, Bayern Munich, SL Benfica

Bayern tops this table easily with their stacked line-up, as compared to the other teams in this table.

The final spot will be between Ajax and Benfica, though our money (not literally) is on Benfica with a more well-rounded team.

Prediction: Bayern Munich and Benfica qualify.

Table F

TSG 1889 Hoffeinheim, Manchester City, Olympique Lyonnais, Shakhtar Donetsk

EPL 2018 Champions Manchester City should top this table with relative ease. Their well-rounded and cohesive team containing multiple weapons across their line-up should do the job for the preliminary rounds.

Lyon should take the other spot barring any surprises, being clearly the second best team in this table.

Prediction: Machester City and Lyon qualify.

Table G

CSKA Moscow, Real Madrid, Roma, Viktoria Plzen

While Real Madrid has lost their star in Cristiano Ronaldo, they still have a myriad of stars to throw into the mix. Bale, Benzema, Asensio, Kroos, Modric etc, the list goes on.

Barring any surprises, Los Blancos should top this table to qualify.

Last season’s surprise semi-finalist Roma should take the other spot, with most of their team intact.

Prediction: Real Madrid and Roma qualify.

Table H

Juventus, Manchester United, Valencia, Young Boys

The draw rounds up with one of the more competitive tables in the Champions League this year.

Juventus adding Ronaldo to their offensive line-up should solidify their standing as the top team in this table.

Manchester United should take down Valencia, barring Mourinho or attitude hiccups, for the second spot.

Prediction: Juventus and Manchester United qualify.
